Conversations on marriage and committed relationships

Survey asks… What little things make a difference? and a Call to Action

Here’s our first of many quick surveys to get your input on different conversations. Today’s poll is on the little things you and/or your partner do that makes a positive difference in your relationship.

Call to Action

This is also something we will be doing a lot. We hope that what you see here inspires you to do something…it doesn’t matter to us what–in this case, it could be posting a comment about one of the little things in your relationship, doing a little thing for your partner, thanking your partner for a little thing they did, sharing our site with a friend, or anything else you’re inspired to do…

Whatever it is, thanks for passing it on!! Happy Spring and have a great weekend!!

Gift of coffee

Last night I was at the symphony with some of my dear friends and we were talking about my relationship.  “What’s your favorite thing about being with your partner?” asked my gay friend Paul. That, for me, was easy. “The gift of coffee”.

I am not much of a morning person. In fact, left to my own devices, I would stay up every night until at least 2 a.m. and then get up around 10 a.m.  Unfortunately, my life does not function well on that timeline.  My struggle with mornings started when I was in high school and my mother used to wake me for swim team at 5:30 a.m. These days, when the alarm goes off at 6:30 a.m., I struggle even more to open my eyes and journey to the shower… I slowly come out of my fog as the water wakes me enough to receive my morning cup of coffee from my partner…

Ever since we started living together over two years ago, my partner has brought me the gift of coffee every morning we are together.  It is such a simple act but my partner is endlessly amused by my unwavering daily delight! He does not get the impact this simple act of generosity has on me every day…or does he?  Every morning as I hug my coffee cup, I experience the joy of our partnership and wonder what gift can I bring to my partner that will delight him for the day?

Performing simple acts of kindness for each other makes such a difference.  Do you treat your partner like your favorite house guest every day?

Try the gift of coffee….

All is well . . .

I’m amazed at the little things that can make a difference in a marriage.

A simple rule to say hello and goodbye, no matter what mood you’re in, has reinvigorated ours.

So you think you know what you’re doing?… April Fools

This blog is introduced to the world on April Fools Day for a reason. Most commitments (especially lifelong ones) have the noblest and truest of intentions until…that thing happens that makes us say, “This isn’t what I signed up for?!” It’s like the ultimate prank and then its time to deal with reality. But the reality is never as bad as it seems…

The journey to Me2Wee!

It is 1991, I am living in Texas at the time and the life of my dreams has become a nightmare. My husband of 5 years is unemployed, spending money as fast as I can make it, having affairs, and in fact, a few months earlier, I had come home a day early from a business trip to find him in bed with my girlfriend. That was the wake up call.
