Conversations on marriage and committed relationships

So you think you know what you’re doing?… April Fools

This blog is introduced to the world on April Fools Day for a reason. Most commitments (especially lifelong ones) have the noblest and truest of intentions until…that thing happens that makes us say, “This isn’t what I signed up for?!” It’s like the ultimate prank and then its time to deal with reality. But the reality is never as bad as it seems…

I’m a much sought after Ivy-League educated PhD who has traveled the world with her work. I am Filipino-American raised in Brooklyn NY by two physicians as parents. I’ll be 42 this year and none of these attributes prepared me for the first fight with my new husband that made me think, “THIS is not what I signed up for!!” APRIL FOOLS!

I will have been married for four years this May and it’s been quite a ride. My marriage has helped me to expand and grow in so many unexpected ways and I can look back and say I wouldn’t trade in any of it…although that was definitely not always the case.

I can’t wait to see what this blog will do for our marriage and what I hope it will provide for people across the spectrum–those planning on getting married, those newly married, or those together forever. I look forward to hearing from any and all of you and engaging in this rich conversation. I especially look forward to sharing my marriage in all its glory and occasional horror. I see it as me truly becoming we(eeee)! :-)

Wee does not equal Wii, right? :) Maybe this is where I need to start to look. :)

Rock on Grace! The world needs this! No one really talks about the hard parts about being a We.
